Farmers MarketFamers Market (2 BLOCKS) One of the most famous markets in all of Hawaii. (Daily, but mainly on Wed. and Sat.)

The Lyman Museum/Lyman House, (2 BLOCKS) 276 Haili St, features a restored missionary house (hourly guided tours). They also have a small collection of local artwork, historical exhibits, and the 9th best mineral collection in the United States. 

Hilo Bay Front (2 BLOCKS) The historic district, filled with countless galleries, cafes, kava bars, sushi restraunts and unique shops, all facing Hilo Bay.

Hilo Bay (3 BLOCKS) Enjoy watching the surfers, paddling clubs practice and the cruise ships arriving.

Pacific Tsunami Museum, (3 BLOCKS) 130 Kamehameha, tells the story of the massive tsunamis that struck Hilo on April 1, 1946, and May 23, 1960.
 
Hilo Art Museum, (3 BLOCKS) 1266 Kamehameha, a growing collection of art from around the world. It is located in the historic Hilo Iron Works building with a breathtaking view of Hilo Bay.
 
King Kamehameha Statue: (3 BLOCKS) Erected in 1997 at Wailoa State Park, the statue of King Kamehameha is perhaps the most impressive of the four found throughout the state.
 
Rainbow FallsRainbow Falls: (5 BLOCKS) Try to visit early in the day. You have a better chance to see the rainbow created by the mist. It's located up Wainuenue ave. from downtown Hilo.
 
Lili'uokalani Gardens: (5 BLOCKS) Located on Banyan Drive, this authentic Japanese gardenpark was built in the early 1900's and is named in honor of Hawaii's last reigning monarch, Queen Lili'uokalani.
 
Hilo Beaches (1-2 Miles) There are numerous beautiful beach parks just East of Hilo and are great
For swimming and snorkeling.
 
'Imiloa Astronomy Center of Hawaii' (1 MILE) tells dual stories of the renowned Maunakea volcano, with its world-famous astronomy and rich traditions of Hawaiian culture. 'Imiloa, which means "exploring new knowledge," reflects both the Hawaiian voyages of discovery and the explorations of astronomy.
 
Pana’ewa Rainforest Zoo, off Hwy 11 (4 miles) This is the only zoo in the U.S. situated in a tropical rainforest--a playground for exotic birds and animals including a white Bengal tiger and pygmy hippos.

Hawaii Volcanoes National Park: (30 MILES) Many people can spend several days exploring all that the park has to offer, including excellent hikes, showcasing most of the flavors of Hawaiian geological activity.
